Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc.

About the GCJGF

The Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. was founded by Paula Amoriello, Alfred Latimer, and Wayne McKinney in July 1998 as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Florida for the purpose of offering junior golfers the opportunity to participate in a quality junior golf program throughout the year and learn to play by the Rules of Golf and Sportsmanship. An eight member Board of Directors manages the affairs of Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. The GCJGF is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(C) (3) non-profit corporation.

The mission of the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. is to offer junior golfers under the age of nineteen the opportunity to participate in organized golf competitions or golf related events with other youths their age and skills level. An emphasis is placed on the benefits to life, society, and community that can be derived through the Education, Leadership, Teamwork, and Fellowship by participating in a sport where each individual player is responsible for playing under the rules of golf and fair play. The leadership of the older players is exemplified for the younger players by their individual and team goals, and where the young people can share and enjoy the fellowship of others with the same high commitments.

Membership in the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. is open to all junior golfers under the age of nineteen. Members age 18 may participate until their 19th birthday or enter college, whichever comes first. Membership in the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. is required to participate in GCJGF sponsored tournaments or events. A member must have a valid email address, be able to obtain all information from the web site and email messages, and make payments of fees using a MasterCard or Visa credit card. A member will be required to submit a tournament entry form and appropriate entry fee for each tournament. Entries for each tournament may be limited and members will be notified if their entry into a tournament is not accepted.  Membership in the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. does not guarantee entry into each event. Tournament entry fees vary depending on the tournament site. All events will be conducted in the south Florida area. A non-member junior may participate in some GCJGF sponsored tournament by paying a surcharge to the entry fee. A junior may only play in two (2) tournaments as a non-member during the GCJGF calendar season, then they must become a member if they wish to participate in additional events. The surcharges paid for tournament entries may not be applied to a membership fee. A junior must be a "Gold Program Member" to participate in the Qualifying tournament for the Okee-Gold Cup Team, the FSGA Junior Team Championships Team, and any other tournament that may be designated by the Board of Directors. A junior must be a Platinum Tour Member to participate in Platinum Tour tournaments.

The Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, Inc. will sponsor and conduct one event each month, whenever possible. The number of trophies for each division will depend on the number of players playing in the division of that tournament. In addition to the trophies, points will be awarded to each member player in the division, with the number of points received dependent on the player's finish in the division and the number of players in the division. Points will be accumulated from Sept. 1st through July 31st with the top point winner in each division receiving an award for Participation & Performance. The two members, one boy and one girl, with the most points overall will received an additional Participation & Performance award. Bonus points may also be awarded for other GCJGF events and will be included in the final point totals. Tournaments that require the number of holes played to be shortened from the number originally scheduled, points will not be awarded. The common holes each player in the division will be used to determine the trophy place. Players must turn in a scorecard for the completed tournament round to receive points for the tournament.

The overall Boys Participation & Performance winner and the overall Girls Participation & Performance winner will receive financial assistance to a national tournament of their choice. The amount of the assistance is limited to Three Hundred Dollars per player. The assistance is to be coordinated with the GCJGF Tournament Director and must take place prior to August 31, 2010. Assistance is not retroactive.

The Participation & Performance winner of each division will receive a 100% waiver of the entry fee for the Prestige Junior Championships tournament that immediately follows the season in which they won the award. Players must be eligible for the age division in which the player earned the waiver. Each player must submit a Prestige Junior Championships entry application and meet all entry requirements. The entry application must be received by the regular closing date for tournament entries. Late entry application will result in the exemption being void.

All players must be a member in good standing of the GCJGF to play in a tournament. Players will be notified of upcoming GCJGF events through the Internet. The membership year is September 1st through August 31st.
